Spied: 992-generation 911 GT3 RS Porsche winging it up at the Nürburgring

For the 992-generation of 911, the GT3 has a stout downforce package. The new rear wing is not only functional, but large. Apparently, though, it’s not the largest wing that you’ll be able to spec to your 992. That privilege will go to the select few who end up with the GT3 RS.

Caught testing at the Nürburgring by our clever spy photographers, the GT3 RS is packing the business. The rear wing is the first thing that you notice, and you also notice that it’s significantly larger than that on the standard GT3. Being the track-focused special, don’t expect a Touring version or an option for a manual transmission. It’s going to be all wing and all PDK for the ultimate GT Porsche.

Expect it to have a tuned version of the 4.0-liter flat-six found in the GT3, but likely making a bit more horsepower. We expect it to be increased by around 20 hp when it finally goes on sale. No turbocharging will be found on the GT3 RS, as the purists demand.

Since we’ve already seen the production version of the GT3, and that order banks are open, don’t expect to have to wait too long to see the final version of the 992-generation GT3 RS. Hopefully we see it before the end of the year, so if you’re hoping to get one, you better start making your phone calls now.
