The new Porsche 911 Carrera T is unquestionably the sweet spot of the lineup

We know the formula by now, or at least we should. Carrera T is to base Carrera as Carrera GTS is to Carrera S, right? As good as the new 992 GTS is, I’m getting the feeling this new T will be the one to pick. The GTS is just too fast to use on your favorite roads. I mean, I saw 1.4 lateral G indicated in a Targa model. That’s just too much grip, too much speed, and too much car to properly enjoy on a regular road. Tone it down a little bit and get the T, and you’ll end up paying a lot less for it, too. This is the ultimate spec for the driver’s car, as it will likely actually require you to be up on the wheel and shifting with your right hand instead of letting the computer figure it all out for you. As standard the car is equipped with sport suspension, less sound insulation, a 7-speed manual transmission, and has no rear seat. It doesn’t hurt that this car is over 100 pounds lighter than a standard Carrera as well!

Using the standard engine from the base Carrera, a twin-turbo flat six making 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, the Carrera T is the only way to get this engine with a standard limited slip differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and a manual transmission. That’s right, you still can’t order a standard 911 with a manual. That alone will make the Carrera T an appealing upgrade. What else does the Carrera T get that you can’t even option for a base 911? Sport Chrono, PASM, and optional rear axle steer! With Carrera T sprints from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds (or 3.8 seconds with the optional PDK, but who wants that?) It also tops out at 181 miles per hour on track.

Also standard on the 911 T is a unique set of Titanium Grey staggered Carrera S wheels measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 at the rear. You also get a GT Sport steering wheel, a standard Sport Exhaust System, and four-way power adjustable Sports Seats Plus. In addition to throwing out the rear seat and some of the sound deadening, Carrera T buyers will get thinner glass and a smaller 12v battery to aid in weight reduction.

Porsche is good at offering colors lately, and the Carrera T is no exception. The new 911 Carrera T is available in, black, white, Guards Red and Racing Yellow as the standard colors. You can also choose from the following metallic colors: Jet Black, Gentian Blue, Ice Grey and GT Silver. Chalk, Ruby Star Neo, Carmine Red, Shark Blue and Python Green are also available as special colors. Given my druthers, I’d take a Ruby Star Carrera T in a second.

The 911 Carrera T will reach U.S. dealers by Spring 2023 and has an MSRP of $116,600 not including a $1,450 delivery, processing and handling fee. Order yours now if you want one, they’re sure to get backlogged quickly!
