Porsche just launched its own version of Craigslist

It just got a little easier to find your next Porsche. There are 193 Porsche dealerships in the U.S. market and now you can search the inventory of every single one in a convenient central database app called Porsche Finder. It shouldn’t be that hard to buy a sports car, but Porsche is working to make sure it’s a little bit easier with this new app. Not only is this a nationwide register of every new and pre-owned Porsche in the country, the app also offers financing and trade-in valuation, too! This could get dangerous.

Another high-end brand with a fervent enthusiast following recently launched a similar program; Harley-Davidson.

“The fact that our U.S. customers can now jump-start buying a new Porsche digitally is a win for them — and for dealers,” said Dr. Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of PCNA. “Porsche drivers have high standards. They often know exactly what they want and do detailed research before making a purchase. This upgrade helps them do that.”

As Porsche models increase in use case scope with the company adding several SUV and family sedan models over the last couple of decades, it is now more important than ever to match or exceed the luxury buying process of other high-end car marques. If Porsche wants to reach a younger audience that can’t necessarily afford to drop six figures on a dotted line, it needs to make its pre-owned inventory much easier to navigate, which is exactly what this app aims to accomplish. This might not be the worst strategy, as the company has a ton of great cars in its recent history that may have been a bit pricey new, but hit a sweet price point on the second hand market.

For the time being you can only really search by ZIP code and the closest 30 cars or so that fit your criteria, so you have to be really specific about what you want. The system allows you to search by color, body style, and optional equipment. You can also search inventories of specific dealerships around the country. I would really like to see the ability to do a nationwide search for a specific model, like if you’re interested in the best 944 in the country, there is currently no way to break that down. Porsche says it will continually be updating the app, so keep checking back for new ways to search for your next sports car.
