Reviewing the Retro Style of Porsche’s Colors of 1968 Collection

A few weeks ago the mailman dropped off a large package. Not expecting anything I quickly noted the postmark was from Atlanta. Hoping it was something from my friends at Porsche I quickly tore into the box. Yes! A mix of goodies from the retro styled Colors of 1968 Collection from the Driver’s Selection by Porsche Design.

Breakfast Boards

What’s a breakfast board you ask? Good question. I come from a German family, so I guess that’s why I’m familiar with them. I remember visiting my grandmother in her home outside of Stuttgart and she would serve breakfast on a small wooden cutting board. Breakfast usually consisted of a soft roll (pretzel roll if I was lucky) some cheese, a little fruit and maybe some form of meat. The board itself not only acted as your dish, you could cut your food right on it. Porsche’s version is done in this spirit. Featuring all the colors from the collection, each piece is made of hardened plastic with rounded corners and works perfect as a small chopping board. We have two of them and I cut an apple on it almost every morning. So far no scratches and I can just rinse it off or throw it in the dishwasher. $23.00 for a set of 2.

Umbrella

We keep an umbrella in each of our cars and for a while now the one I keep in my Cayenne has been broken. So, this replacement from Porsche was quite timely. At first I was a bit hesitant to have a branded umbrella in my Porsche. However, I’ve decided I like cheery colors on a rainy day. I just wish Porsche would start offering cars in these colors again. It’s not as big as a golf umbrella, but it’s perfect for the city, around town or to take to the track and show your love. It’s made of UV resistant, tear-proof polyester and will cost you $70 bucks. Get it here.

Shopping Bag

When I first pulled out this bag, I wasn’t quite sure what it was. At first I thought it was maybe a tote. However, as I examined it I noted it felt slick, like it would repel water. Turns out I was right. It’s actually meant to be used as a shopping bag (for the grocery store, etc.) and is made out of water proof truck tarpaulin. It’s designed to zip or snap closed, has an interior pocket and can fold flat for easy storage. Given that it’s water proof and so bright, I’ve decided to utilize mine as a small beach bag. It should easily handle my book, my lunch, a drink, a towel, some sunscreen and all my personal stuff. Even better, if it gets dirty or sandy I can literally rinse it off or out. Available for $160

The Rest of the Collection

The remainder of the collection consists of T-Shirts, mouse pads, coffee cups, coasters and other cool items. There’s even wrapping paper to give your favorite Porsche gift its own unique flair. To see for yourself, visit the Driver’s Selection by Porsche Design site.
