Watch Nicolas Hunziker Paint This 356A In Timelapse

If you’ve ever seen Nicolas Hunziker’s work, you might think he’s slashing paint across canvas as fast as a flyby Porsche, creating automotive beauty where there was blank canvas in no time flat. But in reality he’s a methodical and plotting artist, knowing exactly how the finished result will look, and where the shading should go before even starting the first brush stroke. He manifests the Porsche and extracts it from the canvas in a way I have never seen before. It’s truly something special, and if you haven’t seen it before, here’s your chance.

The video here is Nic’s newest work, a 356A designed for Porsche Parts supply house Stoddard to use for its commemorative Swap Meet t-shirt this summer. For one thing, I’m so glad that our little corner of the world is finally safe enough for things like swap meets to begin again. For another, the design for this shirt is super cool, and I’m glad Nicolas released this video out into the world so that we could see it.

There’s no doubt that Hunziker is a talent in the Porsche world that only comes along once in a generation. I love his incredible throwback layered technique, and love the attention to detail. From the beginning of this video until the end, it’s amazing to watch how a single line transforms into a very detailed rendering of a 356. The spacing, the shading, the detail work, it’s all done by hand, and it’s all done with the discerning eye. I’m mesmerized. Transfixed. It’s unreal. Well done.
