4 Part Porsche Mini Docu-Series Features Webber, Walker, Canepa and Nakai-San

Mobile and Social gaming developer Zynga has partnered with Porsche in what the two companies are calling a “global content partnership”. In honor of Porsche’s 70th anniversary, they’re filling out the CSR Racing 2 mobile racing game (allegedly the world’s most popular) with new Porsche-centric in-game content. They’re also putting together a four-part mini-doc series featuring Porsche brand ambassador Mark Webber, full-time Porsche fanatic Magnus Walker, wide-body installation specialist Akira Nakai, and racer-turned-vintage-market-driving-force Bruce Canepa. The first of four videos was released this morning, featuring Mark Webber and a bit of his Porsche backstory (below).

The docuseries brings the four Porsche heroes into the spotlight as they discuss their connection to the brand and what it means to them. The Porsche name is a heavy one in the world of sports cars, and has garnered a huge following in motorsport. There is a bit of a chicken-egg situation in these four Porsche fanatics, because it was the brand’s cachet that brought them into the fold, but at the same time they’ve added to the brand’s history in their own way, attracting further enthusiasts to the Porsche name.

  • Nine-time Formula One Grand Prix winner and FIA World Endurance Champion of 2015 Mark Webber serves as a Porsche Brand Ambassador.
  • Akira Nakai is known for his one-of-a-kind RWB Porsche creations that reach new heights of individuality.
  • Magnus Walker’s Southern California garage gleams with more than 25 vintage Porsche vehicles.
  • Bruce Canepa has made a name for himself as a classic car restorer after a successful career on the track.

In addition to the minidocs, three more of which will be coming soon, CSR2 players will also be able to get behind the virtual wheel of each of these Porsche influencers’ rides. You can drag race along in Mark Webber’s brand new GT2 RS, Akira Nakai’s RWB’d 993 “Rotana”, Magnus Walker’s world-famous 911, and Bruce Canepa’s 959. They’re also promising extra in-game content to bring players closer to their Porsche idols. You can race Webber’s Porsche starting today, while the others will drop with their corresponding video release dates.

Julian Widdows, Vice President of CSR2: “We’re incredibly excited to join forces with enthusiasts in the Porsche world, giving CSR2 players and Porsche fans the chance to experience their dream cars in-game, and to see these beautiful vehicles through the eyes of some of the most passionate Porsche devotees around. With this video series, we want to connect fans across the globe in a way that is mobile, interactive and plain fun. Porsche is a legend in the auto world, has been an amazing partner to NaturalMotion and Zynga and we’re excited to commemorate this milestone anniversary with them.”

Dr. Kjell Gruner, VP Marketing at Porsche AG: “Working with CSR2 on a celebration of our 70th anniversary, we wanted to find a way to connect with the gaming audience across the globe through content that felt authentic and memorable. We’re glad that we had the opportunity to capture these unique personalities and their stories because they each represent a distinctive interpretation of what it means to love Porsche sports cars. This partnership enables us to inspire new and longtime fans alike as we look towards the next 70 years of Porsche.”

As has been the case since the app launched, you can also race in CSR2 with 23 other true-to-life detailed versions of legendary Porsche models, including the new GT3 RS, the 718 Boxster S, the 911 Turbo S, and the 918 Spyder. CSR 2 is available in the App Store and on Google Play.
