Most of you know that Chopard is the official timing partner of Porsche Motorsport and their logo can be seen on all Porsche factory race cars. Earlier this month, in recognition of that partnership, and to celebrate Porsche’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Chopard announced the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Edition to be available in the fall of 2014.
Limited to just 919 pieces Chopard’s newest Superfast features design that echoes various details of the Porsche 919 Hybrid. Its 45 mm-diameter case features a dial with cues from the race cars diffuser and the 919 logo stamped at 9 o’clock. Liveried in a Porsche silver, the numbers, hours and second hands are accented in red, white and black to perfectly match the hybrid race car.
The back of the watch features an arena case stamped with the “Porsche Motorsport Official Timing Partner” logo allowing the wearer and others to admire the movement and its exclusive open-worked bridges.
Personally, I’m a big fan of Chopard. I wear a Happy Sport on most days and one of John’s favorite watches is his Mille Miglia. This 919 Superfast might make a nice addition to the collection. Available this fall in stainless steel, the Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Edition will be priced at $12,890.
