Brumos Racing has been running the now-iconic red, white, and blue livery on Porsche race cars for decades, and in 2013 the team put their racing on an indeterminate hiatus. With the Brumos team’s exit from the Grand Am GT class, the livery was absent from the grid for the first time in so many years. In just a few weeks, the famous colors will make their competition return. Yep, the Brumos livery is back. Today, a ‘joint marketing partnership’ was announced between Dempsey Racing, Wright Motorsports, and Jacksonville, Florida-based Brumos.
With Dempsey’s continued vision of growth seeing his team focus on ventures in Europe (with a full season WEC entry), he has joined forces with Wright Motorsports of Batavia, Ohio. Wright Motorsports is one of the worlds best Porsche GT3 Cup and GT America builders, and should help Dempsey continue to find success. Expanding that partnership to include Brumos, we see a trio of perhaps the most well known and respected names in North American Porsche racing right now.
The number 58 Porsche 911 GT America, and its Brumos livery will debut at the ‘Roar Before the 24’ test session, and will continue through the Rolex 24 At Daytona in Daytona Beach, Florida on January 24-25 as well as the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida (yes, that’s the race’s full name now) on March 21st at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. Both the Daytona 24 and the 12 Hours of Sebring make up the first two events of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s second season, as well as the first two events of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.
For both races, the driver lineup for the #58 will be Madison Snow, Patrick Dempsey, and Jan Heylen. Also announced today, this driver trio will be joined by Philipp Eng for the Daytona endurance race. Eng is the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany champion, so it’s safe to say he knows his way around the cockpit of a Porsche racing GT car. Madison Snow is quickly becoming one of my favorite drivers, and is certainly quick in his own right, let alone the fact that he’s still only 19 years old. Patrick Dempsey will surely be known to one and all among us, but you might not know that the racer/actor is making great strides in the driver’s seat, and should prove to be a strong ‘silver’ driver

“I am very grateful for this opportunity to come and race in the United States with Dempsey/Wright Motorsports. This will be my second race in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and I am really happy to be racing in the United States again. Porsche introduced me to John Wright and he gave me the chance to do my first Rolex 24 with Porsche. I really hope that it will be as successful as my 2014 season.
Being part of such a great team with very fast teammates is phenomenal! I don´t know Jan personally yet, but I know he is a very quick and experienced driver. I worked with Madison in the 2014 Porsche Supercup race at Austin and we got along very well. Both Jan and Madison were always on top of the timesheet at the Petit Le Mans in 2014, so I am sure we will have a good shot at the Rolex 24.
I met Patrick at the Porsche Motorsport Night of Champions last month, and we had a good chat about Daytona. It’s really cool to be racing with him, and I am sure he will give everything he can to have a good result. My teammate in 2014 [in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany,] Sean Johnston, won the 2012 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge with Wright Motorsports, and he told me it is a very professional and hard-working team!”
Dan Davis, Chairman Brumos Automotive
“Brumos Racing is pleased to partner with John Wright and his team for these two races in 2015. Wright Motorsports is the best-qualified team in the class, and with John’s group of talented drivers, we look forward to successful racing.”
Hurley Haywood, Racing Legend and Vice President Brumos Automotive
“John Wright is a class act. The Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring make a smart pairing with Dempsey/Wright Motorsports for Brumos, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
John Wright, Owner Wright Motorsports
“The Dempsey/Wright Motorsports team is very proud to be associated with such a racing icon as Brumos Racing. A lot of preparation has been accomplished in the off-season, and this late marketing partnership was just the shot in the arm we all needed to give us the momentum it takes going into such a large venue.
The first time I was part of a Brumos effort was in 1995 [ROHR/Brumos 993 GT2], which Hurley Haywood drove. Bob Snodgrass, Jim Bailie and the core Brumos organization showed me how a professional team operated, and it was a monumental experience for me.
In 2012 we came together again and it was such a great experience working with Dan Davis, Hurley Haywood and Skip Schinsing that we wished we could continue the remainder of the year. We ran against each other in 2013, and Brumos didn’t compete during the 2014 season. I for one am very glad to have Brumos in action again, and I’m honored that it’s with our team.”
Patrick Dempsey, Driver/Actor/Porsche Brand Ambassador
“It is great to see Brumos back on the track. Brumos Porsches have been on numerous podiums over the decades, which is really inspiring to me. I’m proud to be a part of this iconic team. It is steeped in great history, and I think to be a part of that raises the game of everyone on the team.”
