Porsche GTLM Team Nabs 1-2 In Qualifying For 12 Hours of Sebring

Porsche factory racer Fred Makowiecki will take the start of the Sebring 12 hour race tomorrow, from the GTLM class pole position, in the #912 Porsche after setting an electrifying lap in qualifying this afternoon. Not to be left by himself, Patrick Pilet put the #911 car on the outside of the front row, only coming second to Mako by two tenths of a second, holding off the next nearest competitor Antonio Garcia’s Corvette to third.

The pair sort of ‘came from nowhere’ to snatch the Porsche 1-2 starting positions, as they weren’t really talked about much during any of the pre-race practice sessions. Pilet did put down a fast lap in the final practice, but the team didn’t have many betting on them for qualifying. It looks like they really wanted to forget about Daytona and get on with a perfect Sebring. Here’s hoping that the factory team can repeat last year’s efforts by taking the win at the end of 12-hours.
