Now, added muscle, poise, and presence is available to the impatient 992 owner.
The 992 already has the added girth and 993-esque light strip spanning the rear to make it a very pretty car. That said, the base models are still somewhat understated for something so capable, and that might leave some wanting for a slightly sportier shape.
Busy, aggressive, but not overdone.
Before the GT-series variants of the 992 are released, there are a couple alternatives for someone seeking a bewinged, gilled, aggressive design. One option is the SportDesign package, which provides a revised front apron with a distinctive spoiler lip. The SportDesign’s rear has also been reconfigured with a new bumper section that has raised the number plate to incorporate a new air intake and outtake. Add the optional SportDesign sideskirts, and the car looks more athletic, poised, and purposeful.
Experts spent months optimizing the design and function of the new Aerokit.
The SportDesign package alone gives the base Carreras presence, and the Aerokit builds upon that. This kit, which is offered on all Coupé versions of the 992 series, features a distinctive front spoiler, a fixed rear spoiler, and fixed rear wing. Halfway between the broad-winged GT3 and the sedate Carrera, this is for the driver that wants to make a statement.
Of course, the Aerokit delivers more than mere aesthetics. Prototypes were carefully developed in the wind tunnel to make sure the Aerokit was robust and effective, not just attractive. These wings were fine-tuned on the race track in Nardo for over more than 34,000 miles and over 55,000 miles of road testing. The resulting reduction in lift and reassuring aero balance front-to-rear will give drivers more confidence when the speedometer ticks past seventy.
With an exhaust to raise the volume from the turbocharged motor and that wing spanning the enlarged rear, it really could pass as a GT3.
