Adam Levine Takes Porsche’s Mission E Out For A Lap

Adam Levine is, among many things a solo artist, front man for the band Maroon 5, one of the hosts of “The Voice”, and a die hard Porsche fanatic. He’s got a 356 Speedster and, rumor has it, a 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Touring in his garage for driving around Los Angeles and the nearby mountain passes. Because he’s a big famous man about town, Porsche invited him down to the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, CA, just south of the 405 and the 110 interchange, to drive the original Mission E full electric Porsche concept. Very few people have had this opportunity, and it’s clear he’s excited to get behind the wheel. Even for a Porsche corporate commercial, Levine is clearly pumped up to be there.

The electric Porsche is quiet, as you’d expect it to be. It’s hard to tell exactly how quiet, however, as PECLA representative Verena Mai and Levine rarely aren’t talking in this video, and the music bed is a bit too loud when they are quiet. Figuring the inside of the car to be bank vault quiet, and perhaps emit a low hum from the outside, that might have been the plan with this video all along. The Mission E is shown at what are likely rather slow speeds around the race track, for one because it’s a priceless concept, and another because singers aren’t traditionally known as excellent racing drivers. Are we able to learn much from this video regarding the experience of driving the Mission E we eventually see in dealers? Not likely.

Even still, with just a couple of minutes of video to watch, it’s not a bad commercial for Porsche’s EV efforts. It’s clear that the Mission E is going to be an exciting sedan to drive, with fast charging and a very low center of gravity. Are you looking forward to this all electric Porsche, or are you going to stick to a traditional internal combustion Panamera for your Porsche sedan? If there is a place it’ll sell well, it’ll be Los Angeles.

  • Guess it will lose the "suicide doors", not a biggie for me, but I hope the wheels stay with it, even if you have to clean them every day! Awesome so far, one great looking sedan!
