This Sunday you’ll get to see a new commercial from Porsche touting the glorious new Taycan during the big game. This is the first time since the mid-1990s that Porsche has had a commercial during the Superbowl, so they had to make sure it was a good one. Here is what they came up with. “The Heist”.
It’s a whimsical look at the newest Porsche performance electric car that shows how it is related to the brand’s history in Germany and the history of its amazing cars of the past. In addition to revolutionary racers like the 917, Porsche displays a bunch of great cars from its recent history, like the GT2 RS, the new 992 Carrera, and a 918 Spyder. The Spyder and the Taycan even go face-to-face for a second showing the design language evolution between Porsche’s greatest hypercar and its new electric monster. A tractor even makes a cameo!
Speaking of cameos, there is a little blue thing on the service racks in the museum background that has caught the attention of a few eagle-eyed Porsche fanatics. Hmmmm. What could that be?
It’s got center lock wheels, and an aggressive rear wing setup, on what appears to be a new 992 body. It doesn’t look to be quite wide enough to be the new GT3 RS, but perhaps it could be the upcoming 992 GT3? We’re placing a few bets on that being the case. It’s not a great view of the car, as it’s intentionally obscured and out of focus, but it looks like it has promise. Here’s hoping they keep the manual transmission in this one!
