UPDATE: There are links to the results of each of the other auction houses at the end of this post!
While Gooding & Company’s sell through rate on their Porsche lots was only 68%, Porsches as a total percentage of all Gooding sales for the weekend were nearly 44%.
The star of the entire show was clearly this 1988 GT1 Strassenversion that sold for $5,665,000. However, a number of other Porsche lots cleared the $1,000,000 mark and a 2011 911 GT3 RS 4.0 sold for $748,000.

Caitlyn Jenner’s 2011 911 GT3 RS 3.8 Sold on Amelia Island
If you weren’t present, or didn’t watch the auction live, we would be remiss if we didn’t note the sale of Caitlyn Jenner’s 2011 911 GT3 RS 3.8. Caitlyn was present at the auction to present her car and her history/affinity to Porsche. She emphasized the fact that all proceeds (including the buyer’s premium) would be going to her foundation to provide funding to underfunded organizations that support Transgender teens within the LGBT community. Bidding was open at $100,000 and for a few minutes it was a bit uncomfortable as there wasn’t a single bid. However, someone in the crowd soon realized they could get a great Porsche for cheap money and pitched in the first bid. That’s all it took and bidding quickly heated up with the car ultimately selling for $169,400.

All in all, I’m still a bit uncertain on what these results mean for the market overall. Most realized prices were below or at the low-end of their pre-auction estimates. Of the 8 Porsche’s that didn’t sell (including the 959 Komfort and 2005 Carrera GT) it’s still possible that deals will be reached over the next day or two. I’m most interested in the “no sale” of the Carrera GT as it wasn’t the only one to not sell this weekend. Are seller’s expectations just too high or has the market started to soften?
