Porsche recalls 18,000 Macans and a small number of 911s and 718s over safety concerns

From a story on CarComplaints.com it appears that Porsche recently issued new recalls for the Macan, 911 and 718’s airbags, and 911 and 718 windshields. The 911 and 718 airbag recall appears to be similar to the previous airbag recall which affected a slightly smaller number of cars.

  • The Macan recall is caused by faulty pressure pads in the passenger seats. These internal pads may not correctly register the presence of a passenger, which will prohibit the passenger’s airbags from deploying properly.
  • The second recall, which affects the 718 and 911, is caused by faulty airbag igniters, similar to the last airbag recall.
  • The third recall is caused by windshield adhesive in just 21 cars. In the event of an accident the windshields in these twenty one cars may pop out, creating a safety hazard.
