We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for over a year now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. There is some great new stuff every two weeks, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including a 930 that isn’t a 930, a 914 that’s saving the environment, a unique 996 GT3R, a purple transaxle car, and a brand new Cayman GT4. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. 2015 Porsche Cayman GT4 For Sale
Do you want a brand new 981 Cayman GT4, but don’t really care to waste time trying to get a place in line, waiting for Porsche to build it, and then taking delivery? Well, you’re in luck. To get this GT4, all you have to do is place a bid and it might be yours. No waiting for delivery, this one’s already here and ready to be driven. Instant gratification.
But, instant gratification comes at a price. The GT4 starts at just a tick over $80 grand, but this one is on the market for a whopping $117K.
This GT4 is decked out with pretty much all of the options, which makes a great street car, but sort of takes away from the GT4 experience. You’re not supposed to have air conditioning or a radio or a huge fuel tank or navigation. It’s a barely street-legal track day car, after all. I’d rather order one that was exactly how I wanted it, but then again, most people will want air con. If you didn’t get your order in, you might be too late for this round, but don’t worry, I hear a second run of these is right around the bend from “insiders”.

2. 1979 Porsche 911 “930/RSR IROC” by Patrick Motorsport For Sale
What’s a 930 without a turbocharger? Why would anyone do something so sacrilegious? Well, Patrick Motorsport is somewhat known for sacrilege that is both beautiful and amazing to drive. This 930 would appear to be no different. Swapping the turbocharged small displacement flat-six for a torque monster 993-based 3.8 liter engine, this car has more than enough power to scare yourself silly. While this car will have a more linear power band than it originally had, there’s still plenty of go to match the show of wide fenders and a wild paint color.
From the ad: “This original 1979 930 chassis has been expertly converted to a lightweight 1974 911 RSR IROC inspired street racer! This chassis is fitted with a 1997 993 Carrera 3.6L DME engine [which was] then converted to a high torque 3.8L displacement! Featuring hydraulic billet sport cams and married to a specially prepared 1986 915 Euro trans-axle gearbox with LSD and euro oil cooler system. Beautiful Stunning car. No overlooked details and ready for foreign or domestic sale. Do not miss on this opportunity to own one exceptional backdated car!”

3. Delightfully Purple 1992 Porsche 968 Cream Puff For Sale
It isn’t likely that you’ll see another one of these on the street any time soon. Not only is the 968 already a relatively rare sighting, but seeing one in this glorious shade of delicious blackberry jam is downright improbable. When you include the fact that the car has also been fitted with dual tone magenta and light grey colored interior materials, and that it’s still got less than ten thousand miles on the clock, and you’ve got a truly rare bird. It doesn’t sound like a color combination that would work particularly well, but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look spectacular. This is one of the most original, and beautiful, 968s I’ve ever seen, but it comes at a price. Collectibility is primarily measured in rarity and condition, and this Porsche has both in spades. Does that justify the exorbitant price tag in your mind?
Not only would this car make an excellent addition to most collections, but remember that the 968 is absolutely sublime to drive. That large bore twin-cam inline four makes pretty good sounds, but it’s the perfectly balanced handling and the excellent shifting 6-speed transaxle make things all the better.

4. 1972 Porsche 914 Electric Conversion For Sale
This is a truly unique little car that could be a fantastic commuter. It’s got more power, and it’s more modern than a 914 has ever been, and it’s even got its fair share of performance upgrades. More than anything, though, this 914 is unique because it has been converted to run on electric power only. This could actually be an interesting change in a 914, providing a torque-filled and instant power delivery profile that could make the car feel as sporty as it endeavored to be, but didn’t quite achieve, in the 70s.
Using a Chevrolet Volt-sourced 30kwh liquid heated/cooled battery array, combined with a Siemens 3 phase 335v AC induction motor and inverter, this car has a lot of electric oomph. This is a motor that is used to power a heavy modern American sedan, and isn’t a slouch in that application either. Toss it in a much lighter and more nimble sports coupe, and you’ve got a recipe for awesome. The car uses a standard original 901 gearbox, but first and reverse gears are not needed. A switch on the dash allows the electric motor to operate in reverse, and 2nd has taken the place of first because of the torque levels generated by the electric motor.
According to the listing, this car has received all new rubber seals, as well as a conversion to 911 front suspension and a rear wheel 5-lug conversion to facilitate 16″ Fuchs wheels. With integrated regenerative braking, this car is said to be capable of 125 miles of range, making it an excellent daily driver burning absolutely zero gallons of gasoline. Heck, with range like that, you could go for a nice long weekend drive in the hills.

5. 2000 Porsche 911 GT3R Super GT Racer For Sale
This is a truly interesting sale, and I’ll surely be investigating further into the history of this car, because I’m intrigued. Supposedly this car started out with a team in the US, and was raced here before being purchased by a Japanese team with intention of running the Porsche in Super GT. In order to be competitive in the GT300 class, the GT3R’s engine was upgraded to RSR specification, and some additional composite body panels were added.
The seller mentions that the car has been fully documented by racing historian (and Porsche buff) John Starkey. I guess I’ll be starting my research with him, then.
According to the auction description, the car is running extremely well, and is quite fast, as I imagine it might be. The owner is selling because he’s moved on to racing a Ferrari (Ugh, Italian trash…).
