Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay: Volume 107

We’ve been compiling some amazing Porsche models on eBay for nearly three years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. This week we’re taking a look at some great Porsche models from the 1990s. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed our curated look at the Porsche market. Keep in mind, some of these Porsches could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S For Sale

The excesses of 1990’s car culture are exemplified in the 993 Turbo S. With incredible waves of power from the twin-turbocharged engine sitting out back, to the mountains of forward propulsion provided by the all-wheel-drive, this was perhaps Porsche’s best work of the 90’s decade. With a few exterior visual tweaks and some feats of engineering, the Turbo S was able to sprint to 60 MPH in just over 4-seconds, and could carry on to a whopping 186 MPH. This was nearly 959 performance from a ‘normal’ 911. Only 345 were made for worldwide consumption, making this a highly collectible model, with a price tag to match.

2. 1997 Porsche Boxster 2.5 5-speed For Sale

Also built in 1997, the first 986 Boxsters were perhaps the antithesis of the 993 Turbo S above. Nothing about this Porsche is excessive. It features an adequate 205 horsepower, a simple mid-engine layout, and a minimalist interior mostly crafted of hard plastics and cheap leather. Despite what you may have heard, or what you assume from their ever-lower prices, the 986 Boxster is a gem of a sports car with incredible balance and poise. The M96 engines, especially the small-bore 2.5 liter, make glorious noises above 4,000 RPM, and have a lovely power curve. It’s a great cruiser, and it’s a great mountain road driver. This one is cheap, and you should definitely buy it.

3. 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet For Sale

It’s hard to beat a black 993 in a beauty contest, especially with a delightfully tan interior as this one has. If you’re looking for a sporty weekend cruiser, this 90’s beauty will serve you quite well. With just over 60,000 miles on the odometer, this appears to be a quite well kept car, and should continue to serve its sports car duties through the 2090s, we should imagine. Be sure to get full details on the “minor issue” noted in the 993’s Autocheck report. With the mileage on this Porsche it’s hard to say it will have massive appreciation. So, assuming the damage was repaired properly, use it as a negotiating tool to get yourself a much better price.

4. 1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet For Sale

Only the 1990s could produce a Porsche like this. The swoopy fender lines and quasi-box flared sides are hodge-podged together in a way that is actually almost pretty. The oddball pop-forward headlights are reminiscent of the 993 and the 928 at the same time, but somehow work better than both. It’s the coloring, however, that really caught my eye. This gorgeous white car is fitted with a dark maroon, perhaps Merlot, convertible top. It’s an oddball combination, but it manages to work. The dark maroon continues inside, however, as the interior is the same dark wine stain color. An anachronistic color palette that looks great in context. It’d have a hard time flying today, though.

5. 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo For Sale

In proper bi-weekly eBay post tradition, this Porsche was chosen specifically because it featured gorgeous photography. Every car for sale should endeavor to have as many great photographs as possible. If you know anything about marketing, it’s that presentation is everything. Present your very expensive ride in a way that makes it look very expensive. If you don’t have the bandwidth to produce great photos on your own, we recommend hiring a professional photographer to shoot your car. It will only cost a couple hundred dollars on the high end, but if you’re selling a six-figure Porsche, like this one, you’ll be doing your car a service by presenting it in its best light possible.
