Take A Deep Tech Dive Into The New Porsche 911 Carrera’s Turbo Flat-Six

By now, most of you have heard that most new 911s going forward will be turbocharged; a sea change in how Porsche powers their flagship. But how is that power produced and what are the details of the powerplant itself. Porsche tried to answer a few of those questions in the video you see below.

However, they only go so far and so deep. Car and Driver, on the other hand, released a story the other day with real details. Want to know why the raw aluminum cylinders are machined with slightly undercut grooves? Want to know why Porsche relocated the director fuel injectors and where they put them? How much turbo lag is there really and at what RPMs? When is the torque available within the power band and how does that compare to the last naturally aspirated 911? All those questions, and many more, are answered in this excellent technical write-up by Csaba Csere.
