Watch This 700 HP 993 GT2 Make Quick Work of this Hill Climb Course in Portugal

First held in 1927, the Falperra International Hill Climb follows a 3.2 mile course, climbing 860 vertical feet, to the summit of Falperra in Bragua, Portugal. Despite being one of the most popular races in Portugal (it attracts up to 200,000 spectators each year) the race was cancelled for numerous years (2002 – 2010) due to the failure of local authorities to FIA requested safety improvements to the track.

The video above is a clip from the 43rd running of the Rampa da Falperra and features Portuguese driver António Nogueira in his 993 GT2. Reported to make 700 hp (in stock form the 993 GT2 pushed 430 hp to the rear wheels), and stripped to the bare metal for weight savings, this 993 is fast, very fast. As one of only 57 ever produced, these 993s are in extremely high demand and command incredible prices (one recently sold at auction for $2.5 million).
