Watch a 993 Play Cat-and-Mouse With a Cayman GT4

A 993 Carrera 4 is still a formidable performance car, even more than 20 years on. In the right hands a 993 is more than capable of hanging with modern performance cars. The white Carrera 4 3.6 appears to be track prepared, with stripped carpets and a few other visible mods. The car chiefly benefits from the elusive “driver mod.” The driver’s car control on the challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit is nothing short of impressive, and includes a lengthy cat-and-mouse with a Cayman GT4.

A Fast 993 With a Faster Driver at Spa-Francorchamps

The driver in this video handily dispatches a number of fairly potent performance cars, ranging from Audi S4s to e46 BMWs. When he catches a bright yellow Cayman GT4 a fantastic game of cat-and-mouse begins. The Cayman outruns the 993 on the straights, though the older car handily out-brakes and carries more momentum than the Cayman in many places. For an apparently streetable car (note the lack of roll cage), this 993 and its driver make a very impressive package.

  • Nice, although I would not have done that 6-5 downshift in Eau Rouge that's what got him all squirrelly!

despite that, some very nice driving that shows that the old cars setup and driven right can still cut it!

    • We would love to be able to handle our 993 like that. Really not sure how much track time it would take to reach that level of skill...

    • Absolutely crazy. The car is good he is good but how dumb do you have to be to get on a track like Spa and drive in shorts. I am astounded that he was able to get on the track in the first place. It's always fun until someone gets hurt or worse is killed on
      a DE day.

  • The tighter lines of the Cayman and its more composed exits simply makes it look like an easier car to drive fast. Great skills however..!

  • Very enjoyable watching them not much in it in cornering between them both. You are right Ed shorts and short sleeve shirt he would not have got past the dummy grid in Australia let alone on the track.
