Porsche, just like any other car manufacturer, will have recalls to deal with from time to time. What’s different about Porsche is their scope and the issues they cover. This latest recall is a perfect example. Unlike GM, VW or other high volume manufacturer, Porsche’s recall doesn’t cover millions of cars, hundreds of thousands of cars, or even thousands of cars for that matter. In this instance the recall is for two (2) lonely 2015 Cayennes. It’s not for a faulty part. Instead, they are recalling these two Cayennes just in case “the suspension alignment on the front and rear axles may not have been performed correctly and the screw connections of the camber, toe and caster may not have been tightened with the specified torque.”
How Do They Even Identify A Problem This Small?
In case it wasn’t clear above, this recall if for a total of two (2) 2015 Cayennes: one a Diesel version, the other a Cayenne S. More specifically, the two Cayennes in question were manufactured between November 26th and November 27th. Even more mind boggling to me is that the VIN #’s of the two Cayennes are non-sequential meaning they came of the line at different times. After watching this video on the quality checks that 911s are subjected to before leaving the plant, it’s kind of surprising this can even happen, but I guess it’s no wonder they can identify a problem this small.
What’s The Remedy?
The owners of the two Cayennes in question (VIN #’s WP1AF2A22FLA35353 and WP1AB2A23FLA58765) will be contacted by Porsche and dealers will perform a front and rear suspension alignment, check the screw connections for the proper torque and retighten as necessary. All free of charge, of course.
