Porsche Announces Elegant Cayman Black Edition

Here’s some news for you! Porsche is expanding their line of Black Edition cars, which currently includes the 911 Carrera and the Boxster, to include a new special edition of the Cayman. The Cayman Black Edition is a nice complement to the others in the series, employing very similar upgrade techniques.

The Cayman Black Edition is distinguished from other versions of the mid-engine sport coupe by an elegant Black on Black aesthetic and an increased number of standard features. Based on the standard Cayman, the Black Edition’s list of standard equipment is practically as long as your arm.

On the outside, the Cayman Black Edition features Bi-Xenon headlights with PDLS (Porsche Dynamic Light System) set inside distinctive black housings, 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, and the black paint is standard, while a presumably even darker ‘Jet Black Metallic’ is available as an option.

Inside the car, you get upgraded “Sound Package Plus” equipment, a Sport Design steering wheel, Black Edition emblazoned door sill guards, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, headrests embossed with the Porsche crest, and two-zone climate control and heated seats provide a higher level of comfort for both driver and passenger. .

The Cayman Black Edition is powered by the familiar smooth and sumptuous 2.7 liter flat-six engine making 275 hp. The car is available with either 6-speed manual or PDK transaxles. The car still sprints to 60 mph in a scant 5.7 seconds (5.6 seconds with PDK), and of course still sounds amazing.

The Cayman Black Edition will reach showrooms in January, 2016. MSRP is $59,200, not including a $995 destination charge. Not bad, considering the base Cayman is $52,600. With all of those additional standard features, and some exclusive bits that you can’t get on a regular Cayman, this Black Edition will have you driving in economically sensible style.
