Having recently spent a little over a week with the Panamera GTS, it comes as no surprise to me that a majority of the 72,500 readers who participated in the eleventh readers’ award held by Auto Bild Magazine picked the 430 hp GTS as the Auto Bild Sportscar of the Year.
The Panamera GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) is a big car both inside and out. However, you forget its size almost from the second you turn the ignition. The deep growl of the V8 sports exhaust burbles at idle and quickly grows to a roar as you accelerate at a rate that seems way too fast for a sedan this size. Even braking is fun. PDK blips the throttle with each downshift as the symphony under the hood marks each gear shift with a strum from the bass section. What’s not to love about a 4 door sedan truly fit for a racetrack?
This isn’t the first award for the Panamera series from Auto Bild. Most recently, the Panamera Turbo was voted “Value Champion” in 2012. Dr. Stefan Utsch, Project Manager Sales for the Panamera series, accepted the prize presented by the Editor of Auto Bild Sportscars, Ben Arnold, during the award ceremony.
