Last December we introduced you to Chris Green and his crew at USP Motorsports. At the time, they were focused on making their 820hp Porsche 996 GT2 the quickest in existence. After constant refinements and tuning the team competed in FixxFest 10 (the biggest Euro tuning event in the Southeast, US) and proceeded to tear up the track and set what, at the time, was a new World Record for the “quickest” and “fastest” 996 in the quarter mile in 9.46 seconds at 156.87 mph. This past weekend they broke their own record.
While participating in the Street Car Drags event at PBIR the USP Motorsports Porsche 996 GT2 did the quarter mile in 9.45 second. Yes it’s only a 100th of a second, but in quarter mile racing that’s all the difference in the world. It’s even more impressive when you consider that the new 918 Spyder at 887hp is said to run the quarter mile in 10.25. That makes this 996 more than 3/4 of a second faster!
