Master detailer Larry Kosilla is entrusted to beautify some of the world’s most valuable and collectible cars. Including more than his fair share of Porsches. But he also likes to drive and has owned a number of interesting cars himself, including a Superformance Cobra with a Roush big block.
When he decided to purchase a Porsche in 2013, Larry wanted year-round drivability, so he went with a 1991 964 C4. And he drove it… a lot. But, as good as the 964 was, Larry soon began dreaming of creating a true track car he could still drive through the harsh Northeast winters. First off, more power was needed.
At 120,000 miles on the clock, with the 964 dripping its lifeblood, Larry turned to Spencer Cox of Speedsport Tuning in Danbury, CT to rebuild the engine and unleash the 964’s true potential. It kind of bummed me out that the video thumbnail wasn't from the actual video it's linked to. The video of Larry and Matt tearing around the track is actually a few videos later - but when I finally found the video & learned that the video isn't even on /DRIVE it's now on (THE NEW) /DRIVE+ and it's a paid subscription to watch it. (Boo)
It was cool to see the build video, but 17 minutes later and we still don't see the car on the track, then click through to Matt's video on the /DRIVE channel, watch that for a couple minutes, but still not it. Follow the link at the end of THAT video to /DRIVE+ and then pull out your wallet? (frowns)
Having already seen the /Drive+ video ($4/month really isn't so bad folks!) with Matt Farah and this car, it's great to see more detail about what went into this motor. SST looks like an amazing place. It's great that we live in a time where we can watch the process inside a shop like this from anywhere in the world. This may be a new golden age for cars in general and Porsche's in particular. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. (smiles)
What was the cost for the engine rebuild portion?

Larry says $15k to $20k range depending on how crazy you want to get. $7k was just exhaust...
