Manthey-Racing Releases Two New Cars At Essen Motor Show

Manthey-Racing is Porsche’s de facto motorsport arm in Germany. They assist with operation of the 911 RSR team in WEC, and they build and assist a number of Porsche-based privateer teams throughout Europe. They’ve built some phenomenal racers for the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring, in particular. They are also the workshop where the upgrade kits for Cayman GT4 Clubsport models to turn them into proper FIA GT4 eligible racers. This weekend at the Essen Motorshow, Manthey showed off a pair of new cars, one a race car, one a track-day special that remains street legal. Both are awesome.

The Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 MR – 

Based on the very roughly translated German press release, the 911 GT3 MR is based on the newly released 991.2 GT3 and has been specially optimized for use on the Nurburgring, either the traditional tourist days or full-on track outings elsewhere. It’s not clear exactly what Manthey has done with the car to make it an MR, but based on the photos the front bumper has gained a pair of scoops for the front air ducts, as well as a deeper front splitter for more front downforce. More power has been added, but they don’t say how much. The suspension has been given a thorough clubsport update thanks to KW coilovers, and a massive set of beautiful gold wheels are fitted. The Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR – 

Their second car displayed is a proper racing beast built around the already epic GT3 Cup car. While the Cup is generally known for sprint racing, it is also eligible for endurance racing in certain classes and races. In addition to the Cup car’s already capable design, Manthey adds massively wider bodywork, and more aero downforce. You can differentiate an MR from a standard cup by its wider fenders, huge front lid ducting, front fender vents, and special Xenon headlamps with programmable LED spot lights. Unlike the standard Cup car, Manthey has crafted many body panels, including the front lid, bumpers, fenders, skirts and engine cover of carbon fiber to decrease weight a bit. The standard 4-liter engine has had its power bumped up to 485 horses. Depending on the series and circuit, the car can also be equipped with an endurance harness or air conditioning. Very cool. \
