There’s A Battle Of The Wide Receivers And There’s A Porsche On The Line!

When a challenge like this is thrown at your feet, you have to bend over and pick up the gauntlet. The time is right for Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Antonio Brown to step-up and put his car’s pink slip on the line. You see, he was recently challenged to a season-long competition with New York Jets Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall has bet his 991 GT3 against Brown’s Rolls Royce that he’ll complete the season with more receiving yards.

In a recent video on Instagram, Marshall said this:

“AB, man, I seen you’re boys driving those Rolls-Royces at camp. We’ll show you how we do it in New York, man. We ride these Porsches, bro. Talk about going fast,” Marshall said in a video posted on his Instagram page, while standing in front of a white Porsche with green stripes. “Hey, let’s race for pinks, bro. Any day.

“Or, you know what I’m saying, if you have more receiving yards than me, I’ll give you the Porsche. If I have more receiving yards than you, then you gotta give me the Rolls-Royce. Check it out.”

Is it for real, or just a publicity stunt?

It’s entirely possible that the video, which has been viewed over 130,000 times, is a marketing ploy by the Jets, who recently signed a deal making Porsche the ‘official sports car of the team’ (the 911 in question looks suspiciously like the one used to announce the Jets/Porsche marketing deal. I guess we’ll find out who pays up this fall. Put up or shut up, Brown!

As a means of response, Brown made this statement to the infamous “Thirty Mile Zone” celebrity site:

“He don’t really wanna do that. He just wants some PR. He too old to be doing that. The RR is about $100k up. If he really serious, CALL ME … I’ll gladly accept. Don’t Internet it.”

During last season the Jets’ WR Marshall caught 109 passes for a total of 1502 yards, while the Steelers’ WR Brown was second in the league with 136 catches for 1834 receiving yards. Sounds like Marshall needs to step up his game if he wants to keep his Porsche.

Update: Here’s how this story ends.
