Luftgekühlt 8 is going back to SoCal

After eight different iterations of the legendary air-cooled Porsche show, plus a couple international appearances that didn’t get numbers, it’s fair to say that Luftgekühlt has earned the title of “long running” at this point. It’s been nearly a decade since the first show, and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. After an attempt to run the show in South Carolina was thwarted by the Coronavirus pandemic, the show made its migratory event in Indianapolis last year. Aside from that one-off, and singular shows in the UK and Germany, every Luftgekühlt has been held in southern California. I don’t want to presume anything, but after last year’s lackluster response to the show in Indy, it will probably prove a smart move to go back to the home of Porsche culture in the U.S. SoCal is where it’s at, you know?

Speaking of SoCal, Luft 8 is going down in LA on Sunday October 9th later this year. Ticket sales and car entries aren’t available quite yet, but you can rest assured that as soon as they go live, we’ll post the information on FlatSixes.com. For the moment there isn’t any further information to tell you about potential venues or locations for the show beyond a general vague idea of where it might be.

On the Luftgekühlt website, the organizers have indicated that if you’d like to book your flights, you can fly into any one of three SoCal airports, LAX, LGB, or SNA, and be within 40 miles of the event venue no matter which you choose. Given the size of Los Angeles, forty miles could be damn near anywhere in the city. Based on the triangulation of those three airports, the venue could be as far north as Inglewood, as far east as West Covina, or as far south as Irvine. There is a lot of space between those points, and lots of fabulous venues. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
