Porsche tuner Singer will use the 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to show the first vehicle from its Dynamics and Lightweighting Study (DLS) operations in the U.K. The car is a client-specified air-cooled Porsche 911 and is meant to show off the vehicle’s capability. All 75 restoration models have been sold.

The DLS originated when a Singer client requested to expand restoration services for owners of air-cooled 911 models. The starting point will be a type 964 Porsche 911 and will be done as part of a cooperation with Williams Engineering. Formula One technology helped develop the aero-optimized carbon fiber bodywork, extensive weight reduction, and a unique air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six. Additional partners include Multimatic, Bosch, Michelin, Brembo, Hewland, and BBS Motorsport.

Dubbed the Unico commission, the product of the DLS study features a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that makes 500 hp at 9,000 rpm. It features a control-arm front suspension and a lightweight rear setup but Singer didn’t disclose the layout. A lightweight magnesium gearbox and magnesium center-lock wheels have also been included. CCM-R carbon-ceramic brakes with bespoke aluminum monobloc calipers should provide prodigious stopping power. The standard exhaust has also been replaced by a titanium and Inconel unit. Singer has also added a drive mode selector, ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control. There’s also a nose lift feature, air conditioning, and a heated windshield.

This commission also gets carbon fiber bodywork optimized for maximum aerodynamics and finished in Absinthe Green with Nickel polish bright trim. Light-ghosted side stripes with Blood Orange lettering complete the exterior. Inside, you’ll find carbon-fiber bucket seats in Blood Orange with Nickel polished grommets.

In addition to the DLS vehicle, Singer will also present the newest restoration models from its California operations. Referred to as the Hollywood commission, this vehicle is finished in Bahama Yellow over Forest Green and has been inspired by the 1969 Porsche 911E as restored by Rob Dickinson, founder of Singer, in 2003.

“The restoration of my 1969 car was an intensely personal project. I drove the hell out of the car every day around the Hollywood Hills and kept getting stopped to ask if I’d sell it,” said Dickinson. “My answer was always no. But the experience was the seed that led to the founding of Singer as a way to enable other owners to pursue their personal vision for the ultimate air-cooled 911.”

Like the Unico commission, the Hollywood commission uses an air-cooled naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six and puts its power down to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. However, Singer didn’t disclose the total output. It features carbon fiber bodywork in Bahama Yellow with light-ghosted side stripes and green lettering, carbon-ceramic brakes with Nato Green calipers and white lettering, and a titanium exhaust system. Inside, you’ll find lightweight track seats in Forest Green with bespoke, leather-weave inserts and brass grommets.

Earlier this year, the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study vehicles were driven at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The first client-specified vehicle’s appearance at The Quail in Pebble Beach during the 2021 Monterey Car Week is its first appearance in North America.
