For those of you that saw Monday’s posts on the historic Porsches you can expect to see at RRV, you might have already seen the video below, we tucked it in at the end of the post. Even if you did, it’s worth a second watch. In it, Hurley Haywood talks about how important it is for today’s drivers, like Patrick, to have the opportunity to drive Porsches like the 917 to get an even stronger understanding about Porsche’s racing heritage. Perhaps, more importantly, we get to watch as Patrick takes the 917 (Porsche 917 – 015/035 and run it hard around Willow Springs. My favorite quote from the video come via Klaus Bischof, Porsche’s leader of Historic Motorsport. As Patrick is getting settled in the cockpit of the 917 he say, “You know Patrick, the throttle are made just zero and full, To hold it in half, it’s not really made for this.” In other words, go all out or don’t go. Love it!
