In the world of Porsche motorsport racing certain liveries are iconic: Martini, Rothman, Sunoco, Gulf, Brumos, etc. So, when one of those storied liveries decides to make a change you know it’s a big deal. This coming weekend in the Porsche 250, at Barber Motorsport Park, the familiar Brumos #59 Porsche 911 GT3 takes on a changed appearance as the team joins forces with Racing for Children’s, the official charity of the Honda Indy Grand Prix.
Three Ways You Can Get Involved
- Please consider attending the Racing for Children’s Dinner & Live Auction on Friday, April 5th beginning at 6:30 pm, benefiting the Alabama Center for Pediatric Cancer & Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital. Guests will enjoy champagne tasting courtesy of United Johnson Brothers, meet celebrity drivers and team members, and bid on a selection of high-end auction items such as a Photo Safari to Africa, a Caribbean Vacation, and a 2 Day Porsche Sport Driving School. Corporate tables are $2,000 and individual tickets are $125. Purchase tickets online via the Registration tab at: RacingforChildrens.org
- If you can’t make it to the race or the dinner, please consider sponsoring a patient’s Handprint on the famous Brumos Racing #59 Porsche racecar (WE DID!) that will be racing on Saturday, April 6th. Again, sponsor a child’s handprint via the Registration tab at: RacingforChildrens.org Note that all proceeds from tickets and handprints benefit the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders.
- At a minimum, please help us fight childhood cancer by simply forwarding this email to your friends and contacts. You wouldn’t believe how much this actually helps.

“Children’s of Alabama plays a pivitol role in the community and in the lives of the patients it serves,” Haywood said. “These kids are true champions. We are excited to be a part of the Racing for Children’s team and want to do every thing we can to help make this year’s event the most successful ever.”
For Andrew Davis, the track is not only familiar, the family ties with Barber are strong. In fact, Barber was the site of his young son’s very first race event.
“I am extremely excited to be representing Racing for Children’s this year,” he said. “It is an honor, particularly as a parent myself, to be involved in such an important cause. Our entire team is focused on providing a memorable weekend for all the children and families that come out to participate. I’ve enjoyed quite a bit of success at Barber in my career. Last season we fought hard to capture a podium finish for Brumos, so we are determined to deliver another strong performance this year.”
