Renowned Porsche collector Rudy “Mr. 993” Mancinas has died

Dedicated family man and colorful Porsche collector Rudy “Mr. 993” Mancinas has passed away from pneumonia complications after contracting the COVID-19 virus. He leaves behind a loving wife Paula, four children, and several grandchildren, as well as his most cherished collection of Porsches in a wide spectrum of color and custom tailored details. The Texan was deeply involved in the Porsche community, helping organize events like Tejas Treffpunkt, and was always an active contributor to communities on Rennlist and Facebook. The world of Porsche is certainly in a much worse place today without him.

Rudy had a penchant for his 1990s Porsches, first getting bit by the bug when he picked up a 964 Cabriolet for his wife over a decade ago. From there the addiction to all things Porsche snowballed and Rudy built up a collection of dozens of 964s, 993s, various other Porsches, and the occasional BMW. Every single car he bought needed to be “Rudyfied,” to be fitted with some unique design aesthetic to signify it as his. You could say his signature was a set of color-matched hardback sport seats, or an accent-painted deck lid badge, or unique colored Brembo brake calipers. He liked to play with paint colors and his collection surely showed that to be true.

Rudy’s original stated goal was to own a 964 and a 993 in every color ever made. He had a wide variety of rare colors and one-offs and paint-to-sample machines that really made his collection the envy of the world. Whether it was Speed Yellow or Riviera Blue, Rudy wanted it. As he said himself, “I was never the white/black/silver kind of guy” and his life was certainly as colorful and joyful as his Porsche collection.
