Sometimes you need to set goals in life and reach to make them happen. That is exactly what Torfi Sigurjonsson did, and he’s managed to make that dream come true. His two favorite cars, his dream cars, are Porsche V8-powered, and now that he has both, he’s happy. The first, acquired in 2006, was a Mercedes Benz 500E. Mercedes had Porsche build these cars for them in the early 1990s, and only just over 10,000 of them were built for worldwide consumption. They certainly aren’t rare by Porsche standards, but by Mercedes standards that’s barely any. Finding a really nice one is certainly a chore as a lot of them were sold to the US. Maybe that’s why he had to import this one from New Jersey.
Once Torfi had purchased his 500E, the search was on for the perfect 928. I think he may have accomplished that with his gorgeous SpeedGelb 928 S4. It isn’t often that I find a SpeedGelb car that I like, but this particular front-engine V8 watercooled Porsche pulls it off to perfection. He found this one on the internet in 2009, and the following day he purchased it just two hours from home. I know that I would be perfectly content with this pair of German V8 ‘Bahn cruisers in my garage. Just listen to that rumble, that alone is worth the price of entry.
