9:11 Magazine’s Episode 5 Is Dedicated To Dreams

Porsche’s video magazine is named for the 9 minutes and 11 seconds they dedicate to different aspects of the brand’s contemporary and historic tales. This particular episode is cut up into five segments, each as interesting as the prior. Here’s a bit of what you’ll get to see when you click play.

1. Porsche brand ambassador Patrick Dempsey heads to the peninsula segment of Germany known as Sylt. It is a quiet and contemplative sort of place, wherein Dempsey finds himself in a discussion of the dreams it can hold. People go to Sylt to experience its natural beauty. Dempsey is behind the wheel of a Carrera 2.7 when he describes Sylt as “Raw, pure, and authentic”, which could also describe his ride for the day.

2. A quick history of Porsche’s 956 racing car, which dominated world sports car competition from its introduction in 1982 to its end, when it was replaced by the slightly updated 962 for 1985.

3. Two brothers in Dresden, East Germany were enamored with the quick and fun Porsches they read about from West Germany, but certainly could not afford to outright purchase their own. They set about building a 356 of their own design, using decommissioned war Kubelvagen parts, and cast-off metal truck hoods hand-formed over hours of manual labor. They’d discussed the plan with Ferry Porsche himself, and he agreed to ship them a set of used pistons and cylinders to complete their project with true Porsche components.

4. In a gorgeous display, Porsche shows off a 991.2 Carrera 2 dancing in drifts across an icy skid pad. The car cuts a gorgeous Miami Blue figure against the pure white of the snow.

5. Hans-Peter Porsche has a very elaborate train room, of which he is extremely proud. The detail work and the engineering required to make this room work. Now a museum installation, HPP’s private collection is available for all the world to see.
