Before we even discuss the car, let’s take a moment to behold Bark Kuyken’s garage. We definitely love a good garage– somewhere where each car has some room to breathe. Somewhere that offers the flexibility to hang out, display, or work on your cars is about as good as it gets. To top it all off, Bart’s garage is on the upper level of his building. His silver 911T, which is joined in the garage by a Citroen SM, a 355 Challenge, a Mini, and several others, gets to leave via a lift. How sweet is that?
The 911 is a pretty special piece as well. Bart’s 911T was originally red, but has been repainted in GT silver, re-engined with a Carrera 3.2 powerplant, and features a host of other modifications. There are sport seats, harnesses, a yellow roll bar, hood straps, and even a set of staggered black Fuchs. More atypical changes are also apparent, such as a custom hood crest that reads “RAD,” and a much-simplified climate control panel.
But what Bart’s 911 represents is a shift in trajectory. His love of his 911 led him to seek out other 911 owners, and highlight them and their love of their cars. His car and work have appeared on Porsche’s social media before, and have also graced Flatsixes. Kuykens’ work with enthusiasts has placed some notable collectors in front of his lens. Such notable enthusiasts and personalities as Jay Leno, Magnus Walker, Jessi Coombs, Jay Kay, and more have been captured by Kuykens.
Kuykens’ work in the Porschesphere thus far has culminated with a series of books called A Flat Six Love Affair, which are available both through the artist’s website and through Petrolicious.
