Ascending the Swiss Alps in a Cayman GTS.

The topography of the Swiss Alps is radically different to mountain ranges in the United States. For those of us in America the Sierra Nevadas, Rockies or Adirondacks are all familiar, but in many ways tamer than the jagged Alps. We’ve featured slaWterCH’s videos before here on Flatsixes. The narrow, winding mountain passes seen here frequently lack even a line down the center. It’s hard to imagine a road more different to the two lane blacktop which snakes through most of America’s mountain ranges. The treacherous looking Swiss road follows the lay of the land in an almost organic way.

SlaWterCH’s window into European mountain driving is more than welcome here in the often-flat United States. The snaps and pops from the stock sport exhaust greet each seemingly tighter radius corner, without interruption by music. We added the Bernina Pass to our bucket list a few months ago thanks to this gentleman. We may need to add the whole mountain range.

  • That certainly looks like a great drive, but two handed driving just doesn't interest me at all. PDK cars may shift more quickly than standard transmission cars, but where is the fun?

    • sometimes the fun is in going faster. Have you driven a PDK equipped Porsche on the track?

  • What a beautiful sound, you could do the drive all day and just turn around and go back that is what you call music to the ear.
Great scenery, but i would not stick a camera in my forehead !
