As most of you know, Patrick Dempsey and the rest of the GTD category didn’t race this past weekend at Long Beach. Not one to sit on his Laurels, Dempsey made plans to compete as a “guest entrant” during the Hockenheim round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup on July 21st (held as support to the Formula 1 race).
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is the flagship series of Porsche’s 19 one-make race series that are contested at a national or international level in individual countries and regions. The championship consists of nine rounds run as support to the European Formula 1 Grands Prix, with this year’s finale held at Sochi in Russia.
“It’s a huge honor for me to race in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. This is where you take on the world’s best brand trophy drivers,” says Patrick Dempsey. “I normally tackle endurance events with my teammates. And that’s why I’m particularly excited to compete in an out-and-out sprint race. I’m hoping to pick up a trick or two from the experts here.”
Having joined the Porsche motorsport family in 2013, Dempsey currently competes in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship and plans on racing at Le Mans in a Porsche for the second time this year.
