Historic races are some of my favorite events to attend, purely for the sights, sounds, and smells of yesteryear racing. Unfortunately I was not at Spa during this classic racing event, so the smells won’t be possible, but the sights and sounds are brought to us by the HistoricRacingHD channel on YouTube. Their videos are always a joy to watch and hear, showcasing some of the best historic racing cars in the world.
In this particular video, we see one of our favorite old Porsche racers, the 908 Langheck, getting a workout at one of the best circuits on the planet. Spa is a legend, the Porsche 908 is a legend. Just listen to that monster flat eight howl, it’s mega.
We were privileged to see a 908 Langheck racing at Monterey during Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV just over a year ago, and the memory has stuck with us ever since. With it’s unique suspension-articulated ailerons, the 908 was a technological marvel in the 60s, and continues to impress even today.
Here’s what the publisher had to say about this video on their channel:
“This 1968 Porsche 908 LH Langheck is gorgeous. It looks stunning, sounds even better and my God it’s sexy when it’s being pushed to its limits. A truly unique sight to see this car being driven in the way it was meant to be driven, and all of that happening at Spa, one of the most legendary circuits in the world. Thank you very much Peter Auto and everyone else who made the Spa Classic 2016 possible!
For your information, seeing this 1968 Porsche 908 LH on edge is something most petrolheads dream of, a sight we might not even see again ourselves. Yet we spent the entire weekend looking through our camera screens, barely seeing the car with our own eyes, just so we would be able to provide you guys once again with sounds and sights you might never want to forget.”

What are the physical cues that allow you to differentiate a 908 LH from a 907?
