Rennsport Reunion VII is back in 2023

Okay, so Porsche hasn’t yet announced exactly when, where, or how the return of the Rennsport Reunion is going to go down, but we finally have confirmation that it is returning, and that it’s happening next year. This event, now in its seventh iteration going on twenty-one years, is one of the most important to the Porsche brand and its heritage. Rennsport Reunion is consistently the best display of automotive history in the world, and it is based around just one manufacturer. The companies, fans, enthusiasts, drivers, and collectors go all out for this event every three to four years, making it a colossal celebration of Porsche. We were in attendance back in 2018 for the last Rennsport Reunion, and it was truly phenomenal from start to finish. Reportedly, nearly 100,000 people attended that event.

“We’re all excited to be able to announce the return of the Rennsport Reunion, which is always a highlight of Porsche motorsports enthusiasm and heritage” said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America Inc. “Rennsport Reunion has grown quickly over the years into a truly one-of-a-kind experience of sight, sound and emotions. For a few days, it feels like everyone thrilled by the brand is united in one place, on and off the track, as one Porsche family. We’ll announce the date and location soon, but this much I can share already: Our ambition is to make Rennsport Reunion VII the best one yet.”

The first event was held at Lime Rock Park in 2001, and it was a small but exciting affair. The next two were held at Daytona International Speedway, and steadily grew in attendance. The show didn’t really come into its own until it was shifted to Laguna Seca on the west coast, where it has been held for the previous three iterations. According to a report from Racer.com, Porsche was in discussion with the owners of Laguna Seca in regards to facility updates. At a minimum, Porsche requested that the track receive a new start-finish straight bridge, as the old wooden one is getting very rickety, and does not allow for easy access to the paddock. Porsche is very careful in its announcement that the Laguna Seca name is not included anywhere, pointedly stating “The theme, dates and location of Rennsport VII will be announced in due course.” Basically, if the track doesn’t get its act together, RRVII will have to take its ticket sales elsewhere. Selfishly, I’d love to see the event happen at Road Atlanta, which would make some sense as Porsche Cars North America headquarters is just a short drive away.

In any case, you can bet that we’ll be there to cover it in detail. Whenever, and wherever, it happens.
