All 5 Porsche Models Honored In 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey

Earlier today it was announced that Porsche took top honors in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, as ranked by U.S. customers, for the third year in a row. As if that weren’t enough of an honor, the 911 ranked highest in its segment (Midsize Premium Sporty Car) for the fourth consecutive year. Rounding out the accolades were the Boxster and Cayman with spots 1 and 2 respectively in the Compact Premium segment and the Macan taking the number 1 spot in the Compact Premium SUV segment. Not a bad year for Porsche at all.

“The success of Porsche is primarily dependent on the satisfaction of our customers,” said Matthias Muller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “We see these awards as confirmation of our strategy for high quality standards in design, development and production and in continuously offering Porsche customers a unique purchase and ownership experience.”

Last, but not least, the Cayenne and Panamera models ranked third in their vehicle segments of Midsize Premium SUV and Large Premium Car. As a result, this marks the first time that all five Porsche models series were represented within the top 3 rankings of their respective segments.

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study measures the number of problems experienced by U.S. customers during the first 90 days of ownership. Initial quality is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles. A lower score means higher quality. In this year’s study, the survey consisted of various categories covering 233 different criteria. Porsche scored 80 points on the problems per 100 scale, compared to the premium industry average of 110 and the overall industry average was 112.
