Porsche Sold More Cars in China in August Than the US

In August 2011, Porsche’s sales increased by 43.4% compared with the same month the previous year. This translates to a total of 9,031 vehicles delivered to customers. For the first eight (8) months of 2011 Porsche has sold a total of 80,412 vehicles, representing a 30.1% increase from the same period last year. While North America (particularly the US) is still Porsche’s largest market in YTD numbers, China eclipsed the US in monthly sales by 60 vehicles. At this rate, China will be Porsche’s largest market in the very near future!

“We are growing in all regions, which enabled us to achieve yet another record performance in August. I am convinced that this gives us a stable platform on which to start implementing our Strategy 2018. The new Porsche 911 Carrera, celebrating its world premiere at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, will appeal to many existing and new customers.” said Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG Board of Management Member for Sales and Marketing.

China’s Importance to Porsche Grows

While all of Porsche’s regions posted an increase in the month of August, the response from Chinese customers was especially strong. In fact, Porsche tripled their sales from the same period last year selling 2,244 vehicles. Year to date, Porsche has sold 16,995 vehicles in China. This represents an 83.9% increase year over year.

  • No surprises here as our insatiable appetite for cheap, disposable products fuels their economic miracle whilst we conveniently turn the blind eye to their unfair trade practices, exchange rate manipulation, blatant environmental disregard in manufacturing and raw material procurement, not to mention human rights record and downright communism ideology (a world away from our democratic principles and beliefs)
Then there is our very own homegrown WalMart hypocrisy: how we made a fortune selling "Made in USA" pride and now conveniently sell cheap crap to the USA at the expense of all related industries that once manufactured with pride here for us
So who drives the new Porsches, the Waltons and their Chinese partners !
Take heed America - WAKE UP because if you don't all you'll be driving are Camrys and Kias and other famous cars form your local Sam's Auto Club (coming soon to a suburb near you)
