How You Can Get Porsche’s Exclusive Cayman Engineer’s Diary

When Porsche launched the all new 2014 Cayman they did so with the great fanfare. There were parties, press events, advertising, contests, iPhone apps, even a TV Show. All this promotion was done as part of a campaign Porsche calls, “Code of the Curve”. No doubt, if you’ve been reading this site for the past few months then most likely you’ve seen Porsche’s Cayman banner ad on our sidebar. The question is, have you acted on it?

What is the Porsche Cayman Engineer’s Diary

Created by Porsche, this exclusive and limited edition diary is produced on a 5″ x 8.5″ Moleskine notebook of more than 185 pages. We were fortunate enough to get an early look at it and wanted to share it with you.

The first 60+ pages consist of a combination of “engineer’s notes” (presumably the original thoughts behind the design and concept of the Cayman)

along with vehicle specifications in a high-gloss format.

The Engineer’s Diary Combines New Technology with Old

Porsche even managed to combine high-tech audio engineering with low-tech printing (actually, it’s pretty high-tech printing, too). On one of the pages you’ll find a QR code (one of those bar-codes you can scan with your smart phone) at the top right of a picture. Scanning the QR code will lead you to 32 second clip of aural ecstasy that is the sound of the Cayman’s flat-six engine. We downloaded it and have plans for it that we’ll share in the future.

Once you get through all the information and specs (there’s quite a bit of it), the diary is actually quite practical. We’ve been using Moleskins to take notes since college. The Cayman diary includes a daily calendar through the end of 2014 and more than 100 blank pages to take notes, write down your thoughts, etc. Hell, if you own a new Cayman, we can’t think of a better way to record the service history of your Porsche than in this diary.

Alternatively, if you’re a collector of Porsche memorabilia than this is a must have for you and you’ll need to act fast to get one. Porsche created the engineer’s diary in very limited quantities. All you need to do to get your free copy is follow this link and fill out some very basic information. Assuming you do it in time, one of these will be in the mail and on the way to you very shortly.

Get You Exclusive Cayman Engineer’s Diary

Remember, Porsche didn’t make a ton of these and we think they’ll go pretty quickly once word gets out about how nice they are and how easy it is to get one. Even if you’re not considering the new Cayman, get yourself a diary. By filling out their form, you’ll be added to Porsche’s database and there’s a good chance you’ll receive additional opportunities directly from them in the future. In fact, it was through responding to one of these offers in the past that we’ve received invitations to things like Porsche’s Winter Driving Experience and the Porsche World Road Show.

  • I just bought the new Cayman. It would have been nice of Porsche to give these to actual Buyers. Guess not. They already got my money!

    • We have an email into into Porsche Canada's marketing. Not sure if it's available in Canada or not. Will let you know if/when we hear something back.

    • Peter, just heard back from Porsche Cars Canada. They don't have many left, but they might be able to fulfill request. If you want to use our contact form to send us your contact info, we can forward it along and if they can, they will fulfill.

  • Dear Pepper Girl,

I'm so looking forward to receiving the Cayman Engineer's Diary, but am concerned that I've not received the text as of 9/25/13. I submitted the request form on 8/12/13, the same day that I first saw the posting on FLATSIXES.COM.

Are there any means by which to follow-up? .

    Thank You,
    Laurie

    • Hi, Laurie,

What state do you live in? I've heard from a few people that they received theirs last week. I'm sure they go out in groups given the high demand. I'm
Assuming you filled out the form completely?

      • Pepper Girl,

I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your post.

I live in south central Pennsylvania. Yes, to the best of my recollection, I filled out everything necessary.
The last thing I remember filling out was the local Porsche dealer contact info, which is Autohaus Porsche in Lancaster, PA.

I sure hope that I didn't screw this up!

        Laurie

  • I filled out the request back when this was posted. I have Porsche of Farmington Hills, Porsche of Ann Arbor, Fred Lavery Porsche, Porsche of the Motor City and Porsche of Okemos all within an hour drive of me. F. Hills (my go to) & Ann Arbor are both about 15 mins.

Needless to say given the amount of local dealers I am probably in a 'high demand' area in terms of mailing these out and just got mine today.

It is worth the wait :)
