Check Out This 911-Themed Watch On Kickstarter. It Looks Awesome!

Straton Watch Co. is launching a new watch called the “Curve-Chrono” replete with vintage flair and a few interesting features inspired by Porsche and the Targa Florio. The company is beginning the sale of this new watch via a kickstarter campaign. They have experience with such ventures as they successfully launched their first watch, the ‘Vintage Driver Chrono‘ via Kickstarter as well.

The Curve-Chrono is a 70’s retro-style watch with styling cues taken from other great watches of that era, but fitted with modern movements. Interesting in the way it combines vintage and modern, and it is fun to see the Porsche cues in the watch. For example, the back case of the watch can be engraved with some Porsche flavor. Also, as shown above, one of the watches is available with a black/orange color palate that mimics the famous VDO gauges found in air-cooled 911s.

As you can already tell, this watch is available with a few different options. There are five different ‘liveries’ available, and you can choose a dateless face or one with the date window included. The blue-faced version pictured above with a Martini-racing inspired NATO strap is among the coolest things I’ve ever seen. This is a stylish, and affordable, alternative to a real-deal vintage timepiece, and could be a great addition to your rotation. Let’s be honest, if you’re a Porsche enthusiast, you appreciate craftsmanship and quality, and it’s pretty likely that you have a handful of nice watches to choose from. With the right selection of face color and band, adding a Straton Curve-Chrono could round everything out and give you a good every-day watch with a Porsche connection.

Each of these watches is available with the option of the back engraved in either a vintage mesh-style wheel or, more importantly to Porsche folk, a Fuchs-inspired design, as shown in the photo below.

Every watch comes with the strap shown in its original design, plus your choice of two (2) racing-themed NATO straps, and a beautiful leather-bound watch case that just screams vintage. Go check out the Kickstarter campaign, and you can even get a combo-package that includes a pair of perforated leather driving gloves.

This offering is so successful that it has already met its initial funding goals. This means you’re guaranteed to receive the product you’re paying for. Kyle, the progenitor of this project, has already delivered on his promises with his last Kickstarter, and the current campaign has a delivery date of September this year. Alright, so lets get down to the nitty-gritty, how much is it going to cost to get a little Porsche on your wrist?

There is still a little time to get in on the “Early-Bird” price of $310 for one watch. After the first 100 buyers, however, the price will increase a bit to $330. If you want one Curve-Chrono and one pair of driving gloves, you can get that for $382. If you want to get your Curve-Chrono with Seiko NE88 automatic movement, that’ll run you $745. Only 110 of those will even be built, so you’d better move fast if you desire a precise sweeping second hand.
