As a Porsche fanatic, and a studious pupil of motorsport and Porsche history, I was destined to run across the Brumos name a few times. It was nearly assured that I would become a fan of the efforts of those Porsches decked in red, white, and blue. After having met with a few members of the team, my support was only further cemented by their collective fullness of spirit and can-do attitude. Even in the darkest hours of bad breaks and poor finishes, Brumos as a team was always looking forward to the time they would stand atop the competition once again.

As Brumos hangs up their collective helmets for the 2013 season, following the Road Atlanta round of the Grand American Road Racing Rolex Sports Car Series, I would like to take some time to look back fondly on the most recent chapter in their long and storied past, their Grand Touring efforts from January, 2011 to March, 2013. A few years spent in Grand Am’s premier Daytona Prototype category had been fruitful, but it was the return to production based sports cars that really caught my attention. The hard-hitting trio of Andrew Davis, Lehman Keen, and a Porsche GT3 Cup is a combination that should never have been underestimated.

Launching from their starting stalls like racehorses, the Brumos team attacked 2011 with fervor and vigor. A promising top-5 finish at the Daytona 24 led to a short early season slump. A podium at Lime Rock, and a pair of victories at the 6 hours of the Glen and Laguna Seca respectively led to Brumos holding on to the championship victory by just a pair of points at the season ending Mid-Ohio event.

Another 5 podiums were earned by the team in the next 16 events, and the little Porsche just kept humming. With recent developments leading to changes for the 2014 season, Brumos has decided that they will not continue to compete in the 2013 season. Here’s hoping that the best of times for Brumos lie ahead in a comeback for the United Sportscar Racing series!

I cannot find words to express my gratitude to everyone at Brumos Racing for the courtesy they extended to Racing for Children's recently at Porsche 250 held at Barber Motorsports Park. Dan and the entire team partnered with us provide our Children at Children's of Alabama a great experience as well as a platform to raise awareness and funds for the hospital. Then, to top it off they ran their last race of the season at Road Atlanta with the RFC livery still on the car and allowed one of our kids to participate as a crew member for the entire weekend. They provided our Honorary Crew Chiefs an expereince they will never forget. Neither will I.
Having attended the last 3 Rolex 24 hours in the Brumos suite, you can imagine how sad I was to see Brumos cancel the rest of the 2013 season. I truly hope they return to racing soon!
Having met various Brumos racing team members in recent years through the auspices of the PCA-Florida Crown Region, I can attest to their deep dedication, enthusiasm, and loyalty for our beloved Porsche marque.What a great group of Ambassadors for our sport. They will be sorely missed.
