This Is Hurley Haywood’s Very Special Porsche 918 Spyder

On April 18th, 2015 Brumos enlisted the help of 2009 Rolex 24 Champ David Donohue (and current Porsche 918 Client Relationship Manger) along with Melissa Witek, Porsche Personal Design Specialist, to introduce a very special 918 Spyder: Chassis #259. Number 259 is a Weissach edition 918 built specifically for racing legend, and Brumos VP, Hurley Haywood.

The 918 Spyder is unique in its own right with only 918 produced world wide and of those only about 300 coming into the US. Even still, a number of people have chosen to customize their 918 in order to make them stand out even more, Hurley was no different. What is different are the customizations he chose and how they were applied. Hurley’s Porsche is the only 918 in the world to sport the legendary Brumos livery. What’s more, unlike many of the other “special” colors you see on some 918s this livery is painted on, it’s not a wrap.

The customizations don’t stop on the exterior. The interior features red piping with “Brumos Blue” stitching for the “918 Spyder” script in the headrests. In fact, since this is the first time this shade of blue was used to stitch an interior of a 918, the color is now officially referred to as “Brumos Blue” in the factory catalog. How’s that for posterity? In addition, Hurley chose the “anti-glare package” that utilizes a matte carbon finish on the dash and door uppers whereas every other part is gloss carbon. You can bet this will help on track days.

For now, the 918 sits in the Brumos Porsche showroom for all to see an enjoy. Stop by to see if for yourself, or if you’re planning on attending Rennsport Reunion V you can see it there as Hurley will be present along with the 918.
