If you’re a car guy or girl, and you’ve been somewhere other than living under a rock since 2008, you will have no doubt at least heard of Ken Block and his “Gymkhana” videos on YouTube. The recipe is simple, take one modified car, drive it fast, make lots of handbrake turns, do donuts around cones, do wild lurid drifts, and generally act like a hooligan in the driver’s seat. Being childish in a car is nothing new, but Block’s expertise and precision took it to a new level with his first “Gymkhana Practice” video, which has now amassed more than 15 million views.
Not wanting to be left out of the action, Kalle Knosing made his own video by Drifting a Porsche Cayman S. Lovingly dubbed “Number 47”, his Cayman racecar serves as the focal point of this video, and Kalle does his part to help the Cayman shred its wide rear rubber. While not quite as visually stunning as any of Block’s 6 (and a half) Gymkhana videos, Knosing holds his own. The tires squeel as though begging for relief, but to no avail, as the driver keeps the loud pedal matted, and the tires remain spinning. The cones set up as obstacles in this video aren’t nearly as imposing as the backhoes and fork trucks Mr. Block has been known to use, but it’s clear that Knosing has some hot-shoe talent.
Watch the video for about 4 minutes of tire and engine noise that is pure Porsche. No wacky music laid over top, no slow-mo frame stops, and no dumb stunts, just a bout of technical hooning. Enjoy.
