There’s an ongoing meme among automotive journalists that Motor Trend’s “Jonny Lieberman ruins everything”, but in this video, he doesn’t ruin anything, except perhaps the idea that the 981 Cayman GTS is inferior to the 991 Carrera. The Cayman GTS is considered by many to be one of the best cars Porsche has ever built.
Lieberman calls the Cayman GTS easily the best Cayman ever, but he falls just short of calling it better than a 991 Carrera. He does, however, say that it is head and shoulders above the competition from Alfa Romeo, and Lotus. With a power output just 10 shy of the base Carrera, a curb weight a couple of hundred pounds lighter, and a base price almost ten thousand dollars less expensive, it’s difficult to picture myself choosing a 991 Carrera over the 981 GTS.
What are your thoughts on the Cayman GTS? Is it irrelevant with the introduction of the Cayman GT4?

Second only to Cayman GT4. I can't wait for the Turbo to appear in showrooms!
Turbo? I think the only way we'll see a turbo Cayman is when Porsche is forced (pun intended) to make all their engines turbos to meet CAFE standards. Then again, I've been wrong before...
Cayman GTS is a great handling car! The question shouldn't be whether this is better than the 911 but whether there is any car better than this for less than $100,000. I've ordered mine with a manual gearbox in metallic white color. Can't wait for delivery.
