The term “world record” is thrown around quite a bit these days. In fact, we see it so much we basically ignore it at this point unless it’s preceded with the words “Guinness Book Of” . However, regardless of whether or not Anthony Taylor truly set a world record, his 997 Turbo (built by Evolution Motorsports) is still insanely fast. How fast? How about 219.08 MPH in a standing half-mile. Not quite sure how fast that is? Watch the video below and note how fast the sequential shifts go. More importantly, watch the speedo and RPM overlay and see how fast his Porsche goes from 60 MPH to 120 MPH to 180 MPH. It’s insane!
Like a lot of you, we wish the video didn’t have the wonky music overlayed across his “world record” run. Instead, we would prefer to hear just the exhaust note as it screams down the runway during the OmegaMotorsports No Fly Zone event in Arizona. Fortunately, Anthony posted the clip below to his instagram account that shows the raw footage from one of the GoPro cameras installed in the car.
As Anthony himself notes, he had his shifting hand off the wheel for way too long at those speeds. Fortunately, nothing went wrong as his Porsche hit warp speed. For more info on Anthony’s build, check out some of his other posts on Instagram.
