Save the Date – Luftgekühlt 4 in 2017

UPDATE: it might be April Fools Day, but this is no Joke! Tickets for Luftgekühkt 2017 are on sale as of today. This year, Patrick and Howie are featuring a designated parking area for air-cooled Porsches. Spaces are limited, on a first come, first served basis and limited to pre-1998 air-cooled Porsches only. Please make sure your car fits these requirements or your registration will be rejected. No exceptions. For those that don’t get their ticket fast enough there will be plenty of free parking so you can still attend the show without breaking the bank. General admission is $20 and tickets can be purchased here. As for location, we’ve narrowed it down to somewhere inside the Port of Los Angeles, we just don’t know as to what warehouse yet. Perhaps the San Pedro Craft Market, but that’s just a guess on our part.

It’s hard to believe that this coming May will bring us the fourth iteration of Patrick Long and Howie Idelson’s now iconic Porsche car show, Luftegkühlt. Can a car show become “iconic” after just 3 previous gatherings? Here at FLATSIXES.com, we think so. Initially branded as a series of “automotive-themed events featuring a tightly-curated list of historically significant or interesting cars – both race and street” Luftgekühlt has quickly become a cult of all things air-cooled. Today, Long and Idelson announced the date for their latest show, Luftgekühlt 4. It’s the first weekend in May (Sunday May 7th) and will be held somewhere in Los Angeles.

Like with previous “save the date” announcements, Patrick and Howie haven’t given out the venue yet. but after the last three choice you can be sure the space will compliment the cars and add interest to the overall show. As we get more information we’ll be sure to pass it along. For now, feel free to look back at our coverage of the first three shows including:

  • These gatherings took on cult ("kult") status after word got around about the first one. I have since been able to attend No.2 and 3. The phrase "not to be missed" gets tossed around a lot but this gathering has grown to become something truly amazing. It's a who's who and what's what of air cooled Porsche cars that can simply overwhelm you. How crazy does it get? Bruce Meyer drove his 24 Hr. Le Mans winning Kremer 935 from his office in Beverly Hills to Luftygekulht 2 DOWN WILSHIRE BLVD. to the event ! Be there or wish you were.

    • Hi, Gary,

Patrick and Howie traditionally keep the final location of their events under wraps until about 30-days before the event. Expect an announcement in the the next week or so. For planning purposes, the LA Harbor area has lots of great hotels, and this year's event location is said to be within 20-minutes of the major airports in LAX and Long Beach

  • # 4 : Great venue , plenty of parking, air cooled parking was a great walk through on the way to actual site. Porsche tax prevalent on shirts and much of the memorabilia. Really enjoyed the "gathering". Must see for any Porsche aficionado.Talked cars with many "enthusiasts". It was fun just seeing all of the cars arrive through out the morning. Kids need to be under control, saw many parents just flat out did not teach their children how to conduct themselves around such great automobiles. No means no and do not touch means just that also. Weather, revenge of the water cooled Pcars ?

    • No and as far as we know there is no set date. Last year it was the "first weekend in May." The year before that it was in April. Prior to that March and the first one was in September, I believe.
