Porsche Cars North America is issuing a voluntary safety recall for 2017 through 2019 model year 718 Boxsters and Caymans. Porsche has indicated that in a frontal crash test a longitudinal crash beam may not perform as intended. As a result, the lower crash beam may penetrate the bulkhead wall or fuel tank. This causes the component to be non-compliant with certain requirements of UN Regulation R-94.
The recall is being implemented as a result of internal quality control efforts by Porsche. Per the manufacturer this defect has not resulted in accidents or injuries to date.
Affected vehicles will be recalled to authorized Porsche dealers, and the lower longitudinal member will be secured with additional rivets. Owners will be notified about the recall by mail, and per the manufacturer the work will take about an hour and a half and will be handled free of charge. 14,388 vehicles in the United States and Puerto Rico are affected.
At this time the recall appears to be fully internal, and is not listed on the NTHSA pages for the model.

The recall is for 718 models only.
I have one I’m trying to buy and it’s on a “stop sale.” Wondering how long I have to wait until the remedy is available?
Me, too. The dealer told me last Friday they were optimistic they could deliver before month's end, but we'll see.
If they want your dough, it will happen quickly.
