Driving CJ Wilson Racing’s Cayman GT4 Clubsport At Streets Of Willow

Yesterday, we brought you Matt Farah’s video review of MLB pitcher CJ Wilson’s street Cayman GT4. Apparently that was just the teaser, as the meat-and-potatoes of Matt’s test at the track was actually this lovely Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Grand Sport class GT4 Clubsport racing car. The Cayman has already proven to be quick, as this is the very Porsche that scored a podium on its first time at bat earlier this year at Daytona.

So you have a quick, reliable, and race-proven Cayman GT4 Clubsport. How do you celebrate a successful debut of a new car? Do you post the car in the front offices of your race team’s facilities? Maybe take it to a few car shows and dealership events to show it off? Like his brand new GT4 street car, CJ Wilson thought the best course of action would be to strap “The Smoking Tire’s” Matt Farah into the driver’s seat and toss a helmet on his head for a few laps of of on-track running.

As much fun as Farah had in the GT4 in his video yesterday, it would seem that he had a bit more fun in the Clubsport. Everything was just turned up a little bit more, as the PDK transmission allows faster shifts, the uncorked engine provides just a smidge more power, and the completely stripped and lightened car responds to changes in steering, brake, and acceleration just a bit quicker. Not to mention a set of those sticky Continental racing tires to help the Porsche grip through the corners. Man that looks like fun. Go watch the video and enjoy a bit of discussion of the racer’s merits. Be warned, the video is quite loud, and the audio is a little distorted by the Cayman’s extremely loud exhaust note.
